However, this trip has left a lasting imprint on cadets and gave them a perfect taste of what it’s like to be in our country's great Navy.Celebrating the life of Shani Tamu Peace of Freehold, NJ departed this life on September 24, 2020. It was certainly difficult to say goodbye to the Wasp and her crew after three days on board. As news helicopters broadcasted their arrival on live television cadets proudly manned the rails alongside Sailors and Marines. Upon arrival in New York, cadets were greeted by the city's Statue of Liberty and her astonishing skyscrapers. Donahue, principal of Colts Neck High School. On their journey around the vast Atlantic, many cadets saw the open ocean for the first time, let alone aircraft taking off and landing on the ship, or “Flight Ops.” Numerous aircraft such as the MH-60 Knighthawk Helicopter and V-22 Osprey were seen flying on and off the ship's deck, with one even carrying our very own Dr. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allowed cadets to embark on their first sea cruise and see the US Navy and Marine Corps team in action. On, Colts Neck NJROTC Cadets had the opportunity to board the amphibious assault ship, the USS Wasp (LHD-1), in her home port, in Norfolk, Virginia en route to New York in honor of Fleet Week. ![]()
